Speaker 1:

Hi, my loves. My name is Ruby Lee entrepreneur, digital nomad, croissant obsessed, free spirit and founder of the RNL hustle movement. And this is the earn your hustle podcast. He, uh, you'll be so motivated to start that business. You've always wanted to grow it unapologetically and go all in, earning powerfully with ease and grace. I'm so excited that you're here and listening in and I'm so grateful that you made it. So welcome to the own your hustle way of life, full of freedom, a dose of woo and plenty of random tangent laughs along the way. You know, I started my company working nine to five too. As a recruiter. I was working for a ventures based business in the urban cool city of Melbourne, Australia. And today I'm traveling the world young family and toward working with the most amazing humans ready to build a career in life by design strapping my love. You are about to binge on all of the most incredible guests that I bring onto these podcasts. And guess what? They started their businesses through purpose and calling mostly while still working a day job. Let me also share this. I called my company, own your hustle as a reminder for us daily that we get to love our soul led hustle or in our decisions to grow big, stop playing small, create with joy. Take the risk, say yes to adventure and from time to time be okay with those meltdown moments. These episodes are filled with joy and strategy, spirituality and business, tactical tapes, big picture concepts and musings and of course some of that Ruby colored energy. So if you're ready, I'm ready. Let's get started. Hey everybody, welcome to 2020 and I'm wishing everybody out there a very happy new year and I hope you had an amazing ring into the new decade. The family and I stood on a private beach in Dubai and we got to watch the fireworks all around the city. We have these like 270 degree views. It was absolutely insane and you know, we had our whole family together. As some of you will know, we have a blended family. So my 12 year old son stays in school in Melbourne and he's come to join us here in Dubai and we're going to travel together for the rest of the holidays. But it was just such a beautiful, beautiful reception into the new year and it just felt so calm. Last year I definitely felt this sense of, I was so excited that I felt almost sick like I was going to throw up type of feeling, you know, just that moment before you step onto the stage and there's like a thousand people in the audience. But you know, this year was very calm. It was very just serene and blissful. And for those of you that pull cards, you know, the temperance card is or this energy way, it was just beautiful balanced energy and knowing that more and more is coming and this year just feels very flowy and very easy. And that's definitely the theme. A lot of you have been asking me what the theme of this year is for me or what the word of the year is for me, my word is bliss. So let's come back and revisit that. Towards the end of this year. And that word just really represents an energy for me just following the bliss, following what feels good and aligned for me, knowing that business is bliss and travel is bliss. And I'd love to learn from more of you. So many of you tagged me in posts from last year's episode, my last episode for 2019, what your word was. We heard things like expansion, like um, like new beliefs coming through like happiness and joy. Lots of you said abundance, which was awesome. So whatever it is, let's claim that word. Let's continue to, you know, look back at this time where we set intentions and goals and however you set up your new year, not forgetting the energy in which we've called in this new decade. I also wanted to let you know that I have a new blog out blog series out, so I'm actually going to be vlogging a lot more this year. So go and check it out. It's over on my YouTube channel. The link is below and it's a different feel to what I bring to the podcast. It's more of the behind the scenes of our travel and our digital nomadic life. A lot of you have asked like how do you travel and how do you balance your day to day? So I'll still love Instagram stories so so much. It only really offers like a minute and a half of my day, right? Like 15 second clips which make up a minute and a half. So I have been really cold to be doing vlogs this year. So if you love a good vlog and you just like having something on in the background was to cook or whatever you're doing, definitely go and check it out and let me know how, what you think about it. Leave a comment in the blog itself. I answer all of my comments and reply to all of them. So it would be amazing to hear your feedback. One other thing that I'm here to announce as well is our winner for December's competitions. So for anyone who left me a review and who also tagged me on Instagram, thank you so much. We are up to almost 120 reviews on the podcast. And so many of you left such gorgeous messages about how this podcast has helped your business grow, has helped your lifestyle expand, has helped you see things from a whole new way. And this is what I'm here to do. This is my purpose to be your expander, about breaking away from the norm and knowing that you can absolutely cocreate your life and own your hustle. That's where it comes from. So drum roll, everybody. We did a draw and I am so excited to announce that our winner for the free one to one coaching session with me is Sarah Mont. So I'm going to be messaging you, Sarah, over on Instagram. Thank you to everybody else that also left me gorgeous messages. I am so, so grateful for every single one of those that come through. And you know what it does if you have your own podcast and you're wondering what they actually do? Well, it's actually a really great way to boost your ratings, to boost your visibility of your podcast. So if you're wanting to create competitions, just like I have, it might be a giveaway of a product and might be, for me it was coaching time, which is worth$500 you know, whatever it is that will help encourage others out there to go ahead and leave a review, make your prize a good one because it is definitely really a pain in the ass to leave a review. You have to like log in, find the link and all of that. There's like a few steps to it. So make sure that your equally rewarding your amazing listeners as well. So what I did was I got everybody's names together and I popped it through a randomizer and Sarah's name came out. So I want to be able to read Sarah[inaudible], a podcast review. And I'm so, so grateful for this. So Sarah says, I took Ruby's masterclass a month ago. I'm loving her, easy to listen to, an informative podcast with easy to apply tips and tricks. She's inspired me to reach for the stars and my goal is to turn my side hustle into a digital, nomadic lifestyle. Yes, girl. I never knew as possible. I just listened to her seven minute PR podcast and from such a short segment I'm inspired to take a hundred day video challenge, something I hadn't even considered. Thank you Ruby and five stars. Thank you so much Sarah and everybody else that left the podcast reviews. I will continue to run more competitions, but if you just feel so inspired, if this podcast has helped you expand the way that you live your life in any way possible, I am so grateful. All right. Today I want to jump into straight into our podcast topic and this is the topic I've been called to record. I've actually, you know what, I've actually had another podcast already put together in lined up, but seeing the events of the last couple of weeks and it's actually been going on for months, I have been really, really led to speaking about this. It's a topic that I still haven't quite comprehended. It's a topic that is very, very close to my heart and that is of course based around what is happening in my home country at the moment in Australia. If you haven't seen Australia is burning and it feels so strange to even try and attempt to put a meaning behind it or to go through all the theories and trust me, I've been in the wormhole around why this happened. Entire country is burning right now. Um, you know, there's so much there around, you know, the politics behind it, the climate change, why this has gone so out of control, the lack of resources, the weather patterns, so many things. And you know, it feels, I'll speaking to one of my best friends, Erin, about this. It feels so heavy on all of us, whether you're an empath, you're an Australian, you have friends in Australia itself. I think the reason why it feels so heavy is because we all feel so small and helpless in this situation. It's not like you can just fix it, you know, there's not like a one size fits all solution to this sort of thing. It's such a, a scalable out of our control thing, which is, you know, an act of God. It's an act of mother earth. There's so many things that we are just unable to fully take into our grasp, but what we can do, I'm leaving links below to the foundations that I'm supporting. I also, um, I have seen so many people donate on Facebook, which is so incredible. However, I did see a post going around saying that Facebook doesn't actually release the funds for 60 to 90 days. So I mean, think about that three months where it's, you know, in Facebook's trust account and earning interest and whatnot, and there's$31 million in this huge fund that's going around on Facebook and those funds don't get released for another 12 weeks. I mean, this is a matter of animals being saved and you know, food going into food banks and shelters being created for those that have lost their homes. So if you can, uh, donate directly to the foundations, please do. I definitely have spent the weekend quite, I don't know, frozen and quite stuck with what to say, what to do, feeling very small, very helpless. And today's episode is really about this theme about whenever something happens at global impact at a global impact scale or maybe even at a more micro scale where you've been through a personal trauma. You guys know last, um, I closed off the end of last year losing a very close friend of mine and it's just feels like there was, you know that which happened at the end of last year and now this that's happened. It feels like there's an energy there, which isn't as much about like, okay, like January, December, January, February, we're going to launch this. We are going to create this product, we're going to put this out there. It just feels like a really stop and stand still kind of energy take in what is happening. People exiting the world at the end of 2019. You know how we're starting this year. And whilst there's all this devastation happening in Australia, that really is this overarching sense of togetherness. You know, a lot of expats and people traveling the world, Australians like me who are nomadic, I feel more connected than ever to back home right now. And I'll talk about this on another episode, but I'm like kicking and screaming, going back to Australia, are we going back for six weeks? And I'm like, Oh, I don't really want to go when I'm not ready yet. I suddenly feel so ready to go back and see my friends and family again through something like this, you know? But there's just been a lot that's happening. You know, I'm reading all the stats and all the horrifics 500 million animals and counting that are dead, you know, 20 lives lost people that are still unaccounted for and missing. Like, can you imagine? Like you just don't know where your family members are. There's, you know, read another thing saying that it's probably gonna take close to over a century to absorb the sea co two emissions that's happening right now. Thanks to the bushfires. So, ah, anyway, so with all of this being layered on the layers and layers and layers, I said on Instagram yesterday, I really wanted to hear from all of you about how you're feeling and fully knowing that there's a lot of conversation out there. Definitely in my feed. A lot of my clients are personally messaging me and you know, we, let's say our private client, my private clients and I, we've been planning out launches for the new year. How to start 2020 actioning our go to product and sales execution planning. And this is what I'm hearing from my clients. It feels weird going back to work. I feel guilty starting my business at this time. If I do post something positive, it sounds inauthentic. I feel like I'm bringing the vibration down my feed. If I'm posting anything about the bushfires or how sad I am, I feel so helpless no matter how much I'm donating. How am I supposed to launch anything when such terrorists are happening right now and there's so many people suffering. So I put this out there on Instagram and I really wanted to gather the thoughts of the collective group, the voice of your hustle. And I'm getting so many messages back around how you know, how each and every individual is really moving through this sort of energy. And I wanted to read some out because I think it's important to feel connected to others that you are not alone. Whether it's once again, you know, zooming out this whole kind of positioning, like I want this podcast to be a resource that you can come back to it. Any time something happens, God forbid at scale or anytime you're feeling like, how am I supposed to move past this guilt and get back to normal when so much around me is still up in the air and it feels so strange to resume, you know, back to what I'm here to do. So, um, one of my amazing Instagram followers and clients and says, if people treat the issues of our world equally, it is always a bad time to start working. It would always have to feel selfish or inappropriate to start your business, speak about your growth whatsoever. And she goes on to say that she's super devastated and she was crying so much, you know, things that happen in Paris because of Notradame. Um, also when the mosque happened, the mosque attack happened in New Zealand. A lot of people mentioned that as well and it definitely didn't stop her from working. So none of these events have stopped her from working. It has definitely helped her actually, you know, anchor into what is most important and definitely, you know, donating if she can as well. Uh, another one of my followers, Amy says, I'm so feeling this last year when we had the Terra mosque attack in Christchurch, it literally halted me in my tracks for over a week. I feel so deeply when events like this come up, I actually have to restrict myself from how much content I absorb about it because I spiraled down very quickly and become very emotional by the fear of it and the inability to change it. Oh, Amy, I can definitely, definitely feel that that's spiraling. You know, I went into the bedroom and I th I didn't even realize how long I was in there for. Then Michael comes in, he's like, is everything okay babe? And I'm like, yeah, why? And he's like, mm. And I realized that I had been scrolling through my feed reading about one devastating story after another for over an hour. I just didn't even realize it was that long. Uh, Monica, one of my private clients says, yes, I can relate to this. My friend and I will launching this week. And whilst we review, whilst we have revealed it, we've decided to extend our launch period as it's really hard promoting right now. It's, you know, it just feels really inappropriate and it's definitely still important that content goes out and people have that as an escape. But I will be using my intuition to find the balance of what I feel is appropriate and aligned and trust the universe that it'll all work out. Isn't that just so beautiful? Thank you so much for sharing Monica. And that's the thing, you know, more and more this year, I really want to help you plug into your intuition, plug into the things that are right now. You know, even if there is so much happening out there in the world, whether it's like business processes and steps and strategy or whether it's how to spiritually navigate through something like this, you know, it always comes back to your intuition. It always comes back to what feels most authentic to you. And you know, in any sort of situation like this where there's a crisis and it's really at a huge global scale events level, people will always act in different ways. You know, whether that true compassionate side comes out or the panic comes out and there's a lot of projection happening, you know, there's a lot of fears and people would communicate to you in ways that you kind of might not be too appreciative of. Which I definitely uh, definitely received this week. I'll speak about it on another podcast episode for sure. But do you see how with all of this being said and how so many of us are feeling this way? I mean, I'm just getting a ton of messages about this and definitely, you know, um, long messages as well. Um, another one of my followers said, yeah, I am definitely feeling really badly for this whole situation at the moment and pushing back my launch as I can't really promote right now. You know, I really am feeling so outside of my body. The air quality is so bad. Even my house smells like a bushfire. I feel so incredibly sad. And for our beautiful country, I'm finding it hard to be on socials, let alone promote a happy launch. So this is just the moments where we get to go. All right, like let's stand by one another right now, let's really gather and you know, feel into each other's sorrow and what is happening. But let's talk about some ways in which that you can start to move forward. And my personal thoughts and my advice as a business coach, as an intuitive, someone who's really here to help you move forward if you are so in the energy and if you're ready to do so, but you're just not sure how to get to that point. So number one, do what you can and what feels aligned. So what I mean is shifting that energy to one that is helping and supporting. So whether that is financially donating links below, if you want to check out the ones that I'm contributing to, whether that's giving your time to actually, if you're local, to volunteer and to help, whether it's at an animal shelter or whether that's at, you know, a food bank and you're packing food for families who need it the most. However you can through that way. Obviously through energies, so posting and sharing and supporting those of us that need to get the word out there. The more funds we can raise, the better. For example, the more awareness we can raise, the better. However you feel fit to best support and to move and shift that energy into a place where you are giving back. This is the first step to take rather than feeling helpless, move your energy from helplessness to helping. Now coupled with this, we do not allow ourselves to feel even more guilty for not being able to give more than what you want. Even$2 helps in every way. You know, when they say every dollar helps, every dollar helps, every minute helps, every drop of your energy helps. So we're doing this with an open mind and open heart. Releasing the guilt around how much you wish you could give. I knew, I definitely fell into that trap when I was, you know, really young. I used to give all the time, no problems. I had, you know, my little world vision account I was giving to my um, my sponsored child. I was like their pen pal and then as time kind of went on, I probably need to do some more work around this. I used to get really trapped with, if I can't give this amount of money, there's no point giving anything at all. I don't know if anybody else relates to that. Maybe it's just a me thing. And what that did was that it trapped me from doing anything, giving anything, donating anything. And Michael and I, we sat at the table yesterday and we're like, all right, these are the foundations that we want to give to dah, dah, dah and this is how much we want to give to them. Dah, dah, dah. And we were just so on like on the same plane, we were very, you know, it was like say the amount, you say the amount on the camera three bang and it was the exact same amount for each of the foundations. So you know, I think give what you can, if you're being called to give more, do that and giving, once again is in many different forms. If financially it's just not right for you right now, then don't go there. That doesn't feel authentic. And you know, also I've had a lot of my clients ask me, should I give a percentage of my sales in January? You know, sales are generally down in January for some particular industries and not others. And you know, what do I do? So once again, listen to your intuition. If you're not sure how to do that, what you can do is just go into a quiet state where you're just doing some breathing. You don't even need to go into a deep meditation for this. All right? So you know, take a deep breath in through your nose, out through your mouth with an audible side. Do that three to five times. Make sure it's a quiet space. Place your hand just sort of around your breast plate and the other hand just above your belly button. So you've got two hands on you. And listen, listen to what feels aligned. Listen to what feels authentic. When you come out of that three to five minute, you know, breathing and being still, you'll get the answer. That is how I listened to my intuition. Every single time. You will just instinctively know what you need to post, what you, what posts you need to share, how much you need to give, who you need to reach out to, et cetera, et cetera. Okay? So go ahead and do that. And if you want to pause it here and do that exercise right now, go ahead and do that. The second tip I have for all of you today, especially if you're launching and if you are currently ready and raring to go or you have your new course that's coming out, your launching private coaching, you have an event that you're putting out there and you know there's like a, a timeframe like you had planned for this. Here's how you can move through it. It is creating tiles for your actual services or products on Instagram and for Facebook. Now what I mean by tiles is you know on Canva or whatever your design platform is, you can create like your, almost like your E flyers, you know the things that pop up and it's branded. You've got a photo of you, a description of the event or the course and you might have, you know, anywhere between three to 10 different tiles prepared and people can click through them and have a read and it's not you talking to camera, but they are just the designed tiles that sit on your social media. These come in as such a little savior when you just cannot energetically show up and talk to camera about what you're promoting. So I definitely have done this, whether I'm traveling and I can't actually get on my camera cause I've got the kids to wrangle and suitcases or wherever I am, you know in this current mood at the moment where I just don't feel energetically back to show up for it. I fully know that still having that presence and sharing my work. There are people out there who are excited to see that and it almost does feel like a break from reality and they're still looking into you and your work in that way. So having you or your team create those designed tiles for every launch, for everything that you're putting out there is awesome. It is so good. It is not just for these particular moments in time, but anytime you're launching something, make sure you have tiles ready to go because that's what really helps conserve your energy throughout the launch as well. Tip number three. If you are feeling super guilty about showing up and opening up for business and you just don't know how to get back on that horse per se, make sure that you're taking your audience through that journey rather than just, you know, holding back all of those like thoughts and that heaviness and going straight into, all right guys, welcome to 2020 here is like my top three tips and here's the course. The link is below and you are not acknowledging what is actually happening in your head and heart space. It will come off. People will see it. Your jaw starts to get really stiff. I definitely see that when I see someone's aura online, I can see their body language. I can immediately tell when someone isn't fully in their authentic messaging and it comes out. So make sure that you're able to first and foremost say, guys, this is what's happening right now. I'm feeling super, super strange coming back to work because of all the events that's happening right now in the world or in my home country or something that's happened in my personal life. But I'm here to show up for my business and you know, I'm excited to shop for it because I know that by doing this it will help all of us move forward and this is how we get back to it. So make sure you storytell make sure you share from your heart and soul and then unapologetically show up for your business. One way to think about it is to have a look at what some of the bigger organizations are doing. You would never see a big brand or an organization, you know like Sephora for example, shutdown their business because something's happening at, you know, a world event level. What would they be doing? Their PR and marketing teams would be saying, all right, like obviously we're operating as is, the store doesn't shut down. We don't close off. And you know, if staff are feeling, you know, sad or they're not able to make it, then we'll just get some more casuals on board. But what they may be doing is around the marketing of how they're supporting a certain charity or a certain foundation. So you can definitely do this as well. Not doing it for just the marketing and to look, you know, now's in that space, but obviously always aligning to what feels good for you. So if for example, you are launching at the moment and it feels good to say, you know, 10% of all of my profits or my proceeds or you know, 100% of the profits that I make outside of the cost of launching a particular product or event is going to go to wildlife, is going to go to food bank, is going to go to bloodbank. Whatever the case is, do that right, attach it to what it is that speaks mostly to you giving back to the world in that way. Another thing you can do as well is create, um, a marker. Like, I've seen some people do this where they're like, you know, if we get to this amount of ticket sales or if we get to this amount of, um, I dunno, like launch numbers or product sales, I will personally be volunteering and entire day at X foundation and I'll take you along that day. You know, we'll do a fun Instagram stories. So however it feels good for you, definitely not meant to be just a pure marketing ploy, but something that can also shift your energy back into a place where you are able to give back. You are able to create some, you know, some positivity, raise the vibrations in your business and be able to link that guilt, you know, to something that's actually going to do good. Okay. So the guilt isn't bad. We're not banishing that. The guilt is just a part of you that feels compassionate towards a cause and something that is here to help you expand and grow. This might be a defining moment for your business, especially if you're just starting out and you've never thought about doing something like this. From a company perspective. I remember when we first did it and I thought to myself, I'm no longer just a, you know, a solo online entrepreneur. We have a company and a voice and a following and an influence now. And I'm able to actually give back to things that mean the most to me in this world. Okay. So as we are closing off this podcast episode today, I just wanted to remind you that moving through any kind of horrific event, traumatic event, something that's really, you know, felt super heavy in your life, how do we do this? Any counselor, any grief counselor is going to say this. We're moving through it. One step at a time. Baby steps at first, maybe just one step and then we sit back down and another step and then we sit back down. But through that action comes clarity. We're not meant to have all of the answers and all of the solutions lined up right away. But somehow with that momentum comes the vibration, the vibration starts to lift and it starts to give us more answers, more clues. So I hope this episode has been helpful. Please do. Come on over to Instagram. I'm over at underscore Ruby Lee underscore, let me know what's coming up for you. Please share this episode as well. As much as you can share. It would be amazing because I have all the links below to you know what's happening in Australia, donations, the charities that I'm supporting, the foundations I'm supporting, so however you can share it, please, definitely do so. I want to wish you all an amazing start to 2020 throughout some of these things that are happening right now. You know, we get to stand strong, we get to share our message, we get to get back to business as usual, but maybe with a little added spice, something different, something that we're now able to say, Hey, I support charities or I'm able to give back or this is what I'm intending to do. This is my intentions and what a beautiful growth story. What a beautiful way to be able to share that with your audience and your customers as well. All right, everybody, please do take care. My Ozzy's. I love you so, so much. Please, please, please, definitely take care. Everybody out there. Here's to a more positive start to January and 2020 and I've got so many amazing guests lined up for the podcast this year. We're definitely bringing more spirituality and intuition into business this year. I have so much to share with you as I am really making a pivot myself. I can feel it, I can feel the wave, I can feel the change and for anyone that is right now looking for masterminds to join, I have two masterminds, a mini mastermind, which is really made for those of you starting your business. And I have a 12 month all in on your hustle mastermind and it is a, Oh my gosh, it is such a magical place already. We have so many incredible women signed up. It is by application only and I'm very selective with the higher level mastermind, but we start on the 3rd of February, so if you want to jump on board, there are a few more places left and spots left, but I'm opening up all of January to have conversations with all of you out there. If you would like to book a discovery call, if you'd like an application form, if you'd like to have a look at the info or sales page, just message me over on Instagram. Love you guys. Have an amazing day and remember that you can absolutely earn your hustle.
